An Intro to the 5D MK II

So a couple weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to pick up a Canon 5D Mark II the other week along with a BG-E6 battery grip and a 15mm f/2.8 fisheye. Hooray! I can't speak enough volumes about the camera - even if I've only had it for such a short amount of time. To put things into perspective, the "H2" setting for its ISO is 25,600 and images only see the slightest hint grain at 4000 ISO. Granted, the images at that high of an ISO are definitely grainy, but grain usually becomes a factor on normal cameras (even good SLR ones) at even 1200 ISO and max out at ~3200. If that isn't enough to impress you, the 30fps HD video will definitely do the trick. The sound quality isn't exactly movie worthy, but that's an easy fix with an external mic.

Check out the M3 sample clip I made here
(Shot with my 5D Mark II & 85L f/1.2 - tripod mounted)

Sample shot of the 5D w/135L f/2:

Here are some pics of it gripless with its older brother, the 40D (stripped of its grip as well for fair size comparison):

Too bad in the time that I had it, the 40D tanked in value so I took a pretty big hit on it. Argh. I was sad to let it go since it was fairly new, but I love the FF. I will definitely miss 6.5fps though.

Anyway, I'm already planning a follow-up to the M3 teaser clip I filmed. Hopefully things warm up in the next couple days so I can start testing some shots out. Let's see what happens!
